(Missing NDDC #Billions: House of Reps Summons Minister Akpabio) Brooom Nigeria 18/07/2020
House of Reps summoned the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to appear before the committee at 11am on Monday, July 20, 2020.
The committee also vowed to issue a warrant of arrest for Senator Akpabio if he fails to appear before the NDDC panel as demanded.
The former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, had appeared before the House of Reps via Zoom after her initial appointment was disrupted.
Nunieh was expected to appear before the committee on Thursday before police operatives laid siege at her residence in Port Harcourt, preventing her to move out.
The former NDDC boss was, however, rescued by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and taken to the Government House, after the Governor noted that the police had no arrest warrant.
Brooom Nigeria learnt, the state police command on Thursday defended the invasion of police operatives at the residence of the former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Joi Nunieh, saying that the mission was legitimate.
