Clamp Down On Certificate Forgery As FG Set To protect genuine graduates and uphold academic integrity.
Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has taken decisive action against degree certificate forgery, invalidating certificates from Cotonou University (2017-present) and terminating federal employees with fake credentials. The move aims to protect genuine graduates and uphold academic integrity.
This was revealed yesterday in Abuja during a Press Conference making one year in office of the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman.
Investigations by the Ministry of Education, approved by the Federal Executive Council, revealed 21,684 cases in Benin Republic and 1,105 cases in Togo. English programs in Benin Republic (2017 onwards) have been deemed invalid.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Immigration, and other agencies will implement the crackdown. A circular from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has been sent to employers, and a public service purge has been initiated by the Head of Service.
Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, stated, “We are committed to safeguarding the value of genuine degrees and maintaining academic integrity.”
