The Nigerian Association for Mineral Producing Areas Development (NAMPAD) has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to renew the current tenure of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), led by Doctor Samuel Ogbuku. This call is based on the board’s outstanding performance in propagating the renewed hope agenda of the present administration.
According to NAMPAD, Dr. Ogbuku has made significant strides in delivering legacy projects within the Niger Delta region, despite limited funds. His efforts have been praised for reaching out to the grassroots and touching lives positively.
Professor Jasper Jumbo, the National Chairman of NAMPAD, emphasized the need for stakeholders, including chiefs, youth bodies, women groups, and others, to support the plea for an extension of the NDDC board’s tenure. This, he believes, will enable the commission to achieve its laudable objectives.
Doctor Lucky Eleanya, Chairman of the occasion, urged the people of Niger Delta to make sacrifices and work together to ensure the commission’s success. He thanked Professor Jumbo for his sacrifices and commitment to Nigeria’s oil and gas producing areas and the Niger Delta.
Chief Livingstone Akaninwo, a veteran stakeholder, called on the people of Niger Delta to unite and claim their rightful benefits, emphasizing that the time for allowing external interference in NDDC affairs is over.
The event was marked with a thanksgiving ceremony, featuring the cutting of a 46-year-old cake commemorating NAMPAD’s civic advocacy and a performance by the Excellence Bass group.
