NBTI and CDI Partner to Boost Nigeria’s Technological Advancement

Abuja, Nigeria – In a significant step towards driving innovation and industrialization in Nigeria, the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has partnered with the Constituents for Development Initiative (CDI) to accelerate the development and commercialization of indigenous technologies.

The partnership, formalized on April 10, 2025, aims to galvanize local talents, foster homegrown research outputs, and make Nigeria a hub for technological innovation in Africa. This collaboration aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes industrialization, innovation, and inclusive national development.

Key Innovations

CDI has developed several cutting-edge technologies, including [non exhaustive list]:
** Renewed Hope Emerging Technologies Prototyping Kit: A toolkit for prototyping emerging technologies
** Smart Wearable Jackets: Innovative wearable technology for various applications
** Third Eye Device: Assistive technology for the visually impaired
** Smart Agriculture Systems: Real-time monitoring for improved food security and productivity
** Driver Drowsiness Detection Technologies: Safety features for reducing accidents

Partnership Benefits

The NBTI-CDI partnership will leverage NBTI’s vast national infrastructure, including technology incubation centers in all 36 states, six regional hubs, and 15 extensions. This will provide a platform for scaling innovations nationwide. The partnership will also focus on delivering commercially viable products, with NBTI supporting CDI through standardization, patent registration, intellectual property protection, branding, and quality assurance.
