The determination of the Ogun State Government to uphold the dignity and welfare of its workforce has once again been demonstrated through bold steps in pension administration, drawing commendations from the State and Local Government Pension Fund Management Committees.

Executive Governor of Ogun State.
Meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2025, to review the progress of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) reforms, the committees affirmed that the administration of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, has brought a renewed sense of hope and security to workers and retirees across the state.
According to the committees, the Abiodun government has not only strengthened the institutional framework guiding pension administration but also introduced measures that reflect compassion, accountability, and strategic foresight. They lauded the government for a series of remarkable milestones that underline its unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare.
Among these achievements are the successful enrolment and verification of employees under the CPS, the regular remittance of monthly deductions, and the approval of palliative payments to cushion the effects of current economic realities on retirees. In addition, the state has ensured the payment of accrued pension rights to over 24,000 workers, while 352 deceased employees’ families have received due death benefits—a gesture that reflects empathy and responsibility toward the workforce and their dependents.
Equally significant is the ongoing review of Ogun State’s pension laws, aimed at fortifying the legal and administrative structures of the scheme. The review seeks to align the state’s operations with national pension standards and enhance sustainability through effective policy implementation.
The committees emphasized that these reforms go beyond bureaucratic processes—they embody a deliberate effort by the Abiodun administration to secure the economic well-being of workers and retirees. By prioritizing timely payments and transparent management, the government has restored public confidence in the state’s pension system and repositioned Ogun as a model for good governance and fiscal responsibility.
Speaking further, the committees reaffirmed their dedication to transparency, sustainability, and prompt benefit disbursement, assuring stakeholders that all CPS obligations would be fulfilled with diligence and fairness. They also pledged to address existing challenges while advancing to the next phase of implementation with technical support from the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
Observers note that the renewed efficiency in Ogun’s pension management mirrors Governor Abiodun’s broader vision of a government that listens, reforms, and delivers measurable progress. By institutionalizing order, prudence, and compassion in workers’ welfare, the administration has bridged the long-standing gap between policy and impact.
The pension reforms, therefore, signify more than administrative success—they represent a social contract fulfilled. They reinforce the belief that a government truly anchored on empathy and accountability can transform the lives of its citizens.

For thousands of retirees and active workers in Ogun State, the reforms championed by Governor Dapo Abiodun are not just policy milestones but a renewed promise of dignity, care, and hope for the future.
