A prestigious event is set to take place on today March 8, 2026, as the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Morgan State University, and Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria come together to celebrate the 79th birthday of Her Excellency, Hajia Maryam Abacha.

Titled “A Celebration of Legacy: Hajia Maryam Abacha @79 years,” the event will focus on the theme “Women Intellectual Transformational Development: Mama Maryam Abacha and the Legacy of Service to Humanity in Sub-Saharan Africa.”

The event promises to be a memorable one, with esteemed speakers such as Prof Abubakar Haruna, Dr Habib Awais, Dr Hauwa Aminu, and Dr Zahra Adams, among others. Prof Adams Abubakar Gwarzo will serve as the Chief Host, while Prof Hakeem Tijani will moderate the proceedings.
